Integrating Jordan into the European Research Area Project
The IJERA is an EU- FP7 funded project aiming mainly at integrating Jordan into the European Research Area. The European Research Area is composed of all research and development activities, programmes and policies in Europe which involve a transnational perspective to enable researchers, research institutions and businesses to increasingly circulate, compete and co-operate across borders.
The IJERA is coordinated by Environment Monitoring and Research Central Unit (EMARCU) at the Royal Scientific Society (RSS). IJERA brings together three other partners namely; the Higher Council for Science and Technology (HCST) from Jordan, Europe for Business (EFB) from the United Kingdom, and Agenzia Nazionale Per Le Nuove Tecnologie,L'energia E Lo Sviluppo Economico Sostenibile(ENEA)from Italy.
The Jordanian partners will be, generally, in charge for overall project coordination and provision of know-how on water research sector, main actors and priorities in Jordan, while EU partners are responsible to provide access to EU networks and support capacity building of research centres.
The IJERA consortium is well balanced in a geographical sense, incorporating two partners from Jordan and two partners from EU Member States. The consortium has been built up based on a combination of expertise and skills in the roles required in the project, complementarities, experience in the Water research sector, links to relevant EU initiatives and potential partner communities in the EU Member States, Mediterranean countries and Jordan.
